What the Specs Tell Us

The Hammer C2 Tour Edition Solid Reactive coverstock offers strong traction in oil, reading the midlane early for a smooth, controlled arc. With an RG of 2.469 and a .034 differential, this core revs up earlier for a stronger midlane read with low flare for a smooth, controllable reaction. Designed for medium-heavy oil, this ball has the surface and core combination to handle the volume and still make a move to the pocket.

It lives up to its expectations, a very aggressive ball out of the box. After a few games it was working very nicely with me and I ended up shooting above my average for a while with it. Absolutely would recommend if you have used the zero mercy line before or just looking for an aggressive ball (two handlers should be aware how it gets drilled though if it gets drilled to hook it will absolutely hook from the 10 or 7 pin depending what hand you are all the way to narnia)

Here's my take on the new Hammer Zero Mercy Tour. The Zero Mercy Tour features the same low RG/low diff asymmetrical cores used in the original Obsession Tour and Envy Tour. Additionally, Hammer created a new crimson colored coverstock, C2 Tour Edition featuring the same coverstock additives used in prior Zero Mercy releases. Box finish is 1000 Siaair. I drilled mine with a 50 x 5 x 25 layout and used it on several different THS. At the outset, I was a HUGE fan of the original Envy Tour. I truly believe that in being on staff with the Hammer brand for now 23 seasons, the Envy Tour was definitely one of my top 10 favorite balls ever. That ball was absolute gold on higher volume demanding patterns and was often the first ball out of the bag in tournaments. So, when we got the information on the Zero Mercy Tour, I was very excited to try it. The Zero Mercy Tour, by the manufacturer's intent, was to create a similar tour type of motion found in the Obsession Tour and Envy Tour but with an updated coverstock. The Zero Mercy Tour is already in my bag and will remain there for some time. I did a comparison with a similarly drilled Envy Tour with a fresh surface. To my eye, they're VERY similar which is AWESOME! I think, to my eye, the new Zero Mercy Tour is a touch stronger and offers a touch more back end response compared to an Envy Tour. That being said, the Zero Mercy Tour is right on the money when it comes to creating that slower response ball motion which is exactly what a "tour edition" ball is for. It has a big, round type of motion that provides control which is critical when bowling on tougher patterns, especially on the fresh. This is, therefore, best used on high volume patterns and I do think it can be in play on a variety of pattern distances depending on layout. The key, however, is to have sufficient volume in the pattern. I do firmly believe this ball will be absolute money for higher volume fresh tough patterns and perhaps even through transition as I did notice that with a hand position adjustment, I can get the Zero Mercy Tour to go left to right. While I don't want to defeat the best usage for this ball, I will be interested to see how the Zero Mercy Tour does if I take some surface off the ball and how it will handle maybe slightly lower volumes of oil. The Zero Mercy Tour is readily available presently. Please see your local pro shop for information.
