What the Specs Tell Us

The Roto Grip E-R1 Solid Reactive coverstock offers strong traction in oil, reading the midlane early for a smooth, controlled arc. With an RG of 2.49 and a .057 differential, this core revs up earlier for a stronger midlane read with strong flare potential that creates an aggressive ball motion. Designed for heavy oil, this ball has the surface and core combination to handle the volume and still make a move to the pocket.

The Perfect Gem gives me exactly what I’m looking for when I need a strong, confident reaction on heavier conditions. It digs into the lane early, gives me a strong and predictable midlane read, and still has plenty of continuation through the pins. Compared to the Original Gem, I see a little more continuation downlane while still getting that strong overall motion the Gem line is known for. Compared to the Magic Gem, the Perfect feels smoother and more predictable for me, especially when I need to control the breakpoint. It fits nicely between the two and gives me a shape that I feel like I can use on a wider variety of heavier conditions. When there’s enough volume and I need something strong, smooth, and dependable, the Perfect Gem is an easy choice.

Where do I begin? The Perfect Gem is a very early ball that provides a good midlane read and continuation in the backend. I have used this ball in fresh conditions, and it cuts through the oil like nothing is there.

Better than the original gem, super strong in midlane and very very forward without sacrificing carry

Right Hand - 15.5 mph down lane, 335 +/-, PAP 4.75, 1/2 up, layout is 4.5 x4x2.25. I have bowled on a house shot at Bowlero Edmond, OK and a 44ft 29ml pattern. The Perfect Gem is for the person who wants maximum traction, strong continuation, and plenty of shape when the lanes are fresh and demanding. The only Gem I have rolled prior was the Magic Gem. The Magic Gem was designed to sit between the original Gem and Exotic Gem, offering more length than the original Gem while maintaining substantial midlane traction. The interesting thing about the Perfect Gem is that solid, doesn't necessarily mean earlier or smoother. The new E-R1 cover was designed to get through the front relatively cleanly and then respond strongly to friction. My comparison is that the Magic Gem is skid, strong read, strong continuation and the Perfect Gem is clean, stronger midlane, bigger and more continuous. The Roto Grip Perfect Gem is a powerful heavy-oil weapon. If you're looking for a piece of equipment that can dig through oil, read the midlane and continue through the pins, the Perfect Gem deserves a spot in your bag. The Perfect Gem gives you a stronger overall read while still maintaining enough energy to continue through the pins. For a bowler with decent speed and/or lower rev rate, the Perfect Gem could be particularly interesting because it gives you a way to create traction without necessarily getting the ball to quit down lane. The Perfect Gem is heavy-oil beast. When the lanes are demanding and you need something that isn't afraid of volume, this is the type of ball you want in your bag. Thanks, Mike Walker

The Roto Grip Perfect Gem is an absolute beast when it comes to overall hook and traction! This ball is designed for heavier oil conditions, and you can really feel how strong it is as soon as it hits the lane. The Perfect Gem reads the midlane extremely hard while still giving you plenty of continuation through the pins, making it a great option when you need something that can handle a lot of oil. What I really like about this ball is how much energy it keeps even though it’s so strong. It creates a huge amount of motion downlane and can really open up the lane when you’re struggling to get your other equipment to hook. If you’re looking for a strong, aggressive bowling ball that can handle heavy conditions and give you a ton of confidence when you need hook, the Roto Grip Perfect Gem is definitely a ball worth checking out!
